Christian films like Courageous and Fireproof have gained traction because of the message of hope they provide for real life situations. Well, the newest film with a Christian theme, Blue Like Jazz is perhaps the most unconventional Christian film in a long time. It is rated PG-13for mature thematic material, sexuality, drug and alcohol content, and some foul language. Since it is the story of a young Baptist boy from Texas going off to a super liberal college in Portland, Oregon, most of the subject matter is congruent to the setting. The main character faces disillusionment with his Christian faith and experiences a pretty typical departure from good decision-making.
Rarely has a new band delivered an album with more emotional punch than Tenth Avenue North’s 2008 debut ‘Over and Underneath’. Musically inventive and lyrically compelling, the collection helped earn the band the New Artist of the Year accolade at the 2009 Dove Awards.
On May 11th, Tenth Avenue North will be returning to western NC and performing at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, NC. Accompanying them will be the Andrew Brown Band. Born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina, Andrew comes from a family and a culture rich in musical diversity and passion. For this band it is less about the music and more about the message!
